Jana enjoys treating young and old and has a keen interest in movement analysis, specifically related to swimming technique. Her motto is “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”.
Jana graduated her degree in Physiotherapy Cum Laude from the University of Pretoria in 2009 and completed her community service year at Tembisa Hospital in 2010. In 2011 she started working in private practice and completed the highly regarded post graduate Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Course (ANMSC) hosted by the South Africa Society of Physiotherapy (SASP), then known as the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) Course.
At school she achieved provincial colours in hockey and biathlon (swimming and running) and had a particular passion for swimming! After school, she continued participating in various sporting events. Her highlights include Ironman 70.3, multiple 94.7 road cycling races, multiple Cape Argus road cycling races, multiple Amashova road cycling races, multiple Sani2c mountain bike cycling races, multiple 8Mile Midmar Mile races and the Robben Island Crossing.
Following her interest in swimming video analysis, stroke/technique correction and her passion to help others swim better, she travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) in 2014 and Australia in 2017 to gain invaluable knowledge in the field of Advanced Swimming Video Analysis & Stroke Correction Sessions to prevent injury, improve efficiency and enhance performance. In 2017 she became the first Certified Swim Smooth Coach in Africa and subsequently ran Swim Smooth Squads in Johannesburg focusing on adult freestyle swimming, preparing athletes for long distance open water swimming events such as Ironman, Robben Island Crossing and the Midmar 8Mile event. She continues to conduct 1-to-1 Video Analysis & Stroke Correction Sessions parallel to practicing as a physiotherapist.
